CrossFit: Misconceptions and My Experience

CrossFit: Misconceptions and My Experience

Do you do CrossFit? Before I started CrossFit, I had a LOT of misconceptions. But I guess that’s how it is whenever we decide to try something new. Random people’s opinions (informed or not) get circulated around and we take them as gospel, until we decide to look into it ourselves, of course. 😉

Everyone starts somewhere, right?! 😉👍🏻

I hear it all of the time…”there’s no way I could do that workout because I’m not strong/good enough!” Guess what!? Nobody’s expecting you to be the best at something you just started doing! It’s perfectly fine to modify and build up to something! 👌🏻

I’ve especially heard this feedback when it comes to CrossFit. People think that there is no way they can do it because they think CrossFit is only for elite athletes. Yes, there are some amazing athletes that CrossFit, but there’s also many everyday people like me and you that do it too! 💪🏻

It’s ok, you can say it – this definitely isn’t the prettiest pic of me right?! 😝

Believe me, I think so too – my face looks crazy! LOL! I debated whether or not to post it but then I decided that there’s no shame in this pic…it actually captured a pretty cool moment! Here I am completing a new 1 max rep on my deadlift – 290 lbs!!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

It may not always be pretty, but the road to success rarely is..

I know when I first started CrossFitting, I used a band for over a YEAR to do pull ups and I still use a band now for ring dips! It’s all about progressing and getting stronger…so, if that means you have to modify with equipment like bands, so be it!!! There’s no shame in working your way up to reach your fitness goals, so get out there and TRY!!!

Before you know it, your life’s turned upside down, and you’re doing things you never thought you could. Sorry, couldn’t resist. 😉
